DermoZymeÒ
is a skin specific antioxidant enzyme mimetic cream that
offers a unique approach for the topical treatment of common skin
disorders that have cellular oxidative damage as a key factor in
their pathophysiology. Oxidative damage by free radicals is
implicated in the hyper-inflammatory processes in psoriasis, as well
as in premature skin aging and skin malignancies. Chronic exposure
to UV radiation produces photoaging of the skin that is
characterized by wrinkles, mottled pigmentation, loss of skin tone,
telangiectasia and laxity. Other environmental factors that
contribute to skin aging include smoking and environmental
pollutants which produce free radicals that damage cell membranes.
Cigarette smoking, particularly in women, exacerbates the photoaging
process and increases the incidence of skin cancers. DermoZymeÒ
may also prove effective in reducing skin cancer and other problems
caused by radiation damage and in reducing the inflammation
associated with cryosurgery.
